Electronics Will Cost More In 2023. 7 Electronic Devices? Used In Daily Life:- Although we are used to new generations of electronic products that cost almost as much as the previous generation, the electronics segment is not immune to inflation. With recent announcements of semiconductor price hikes starting in 2023, consumers should move quickly to secure lower prices during back-to-school and the holiday season.

It started in June with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world’s largest semiconductor foundry, which has announced price hikes since 2023, and now the dominoes are falling.

TSMC’s announcement was followed by a piece of similar information from Intel and DigiTimes that Marvell and Qualcomm informed their customers that they would raise chip prices.

It now appears that most, if not all, semiconductor companies are following suit with their own price increases.

Price increases are passed on to consumers.

As a key component in almost everything we use in our daily lives, from electric toothbrushes to toasters to smartphones and automobiles, semiconductor price increases will force similar increases across the value chain, and eventually, those increases will carry over to consumers.

The service fees charged by communications, internet, and entertainment companies are also likely to rise as they pass on the ever-increasing prices of their new equipment.

These pricing announcements aren’t surprising.
The semiconductor industry struggled with supply chain and capacity constraints during the surge in demand during COVID. Previously, foundries were pushing their semiconductor customers to invest more in future capacity or face the consequences of losing production priority and rising prices.

But, with ongoing constraints and rising raw material prices, foundries and embedded device (IDM) manufacturers like Intel, Microchip, and Micron are facing the same problem: rising costs.

There is no quick fix.

As previously indicated by Tirias Research, there is no easy solution to semiconductor power problems.

Most of the new factory’s capacity will be built to support the new nodes of the manufacturing process where higher costs can be recouped through higher profit margins.

This leaves constraints on older process nodes until demand decreases as newer products are introduced into advanced process nodes and additional capacity becomes available for older nodes.

With automotive, industrial, medical, and even some consumer applications using the same chips for five, 10 years, or even more, it will be years before production demands stabilize on older process nodes and existing production capacity.

Furthermore, it takes at least two years to build and start a new semiconductor factory, even on an existing production site.

Although some foundries pledged to build new factories, much of that pledge was based on subsidized funding from the US and EU governments, which ended a long time ago.

At the time of writing, the US has funded the CHIPS and FABS acts, but it is not yet clear how those funds will be allocated and when they will be available to semiconductor manufacturers.

Greater inflationary pressures:
The semiconductor industry’s problems are bad enough, but when combined with ongoing closures in China, limited raw material extraction, shipping bottlenecks, and labor shortages, the semiconductor industry, like all other industries, will

succumb to inflationary pressures.

The only real solution to the problem is to restore demand, which results in a general market correction, also known as a recession.

Even if the economy heads into a recession, it will take time, perhaps a few years, to lower the rate of inflation and balance disposable income and the prices of everything from commodities to consumer goods.

As a result, when it comes to electronics, the best plan for consumers is to lock prices on what they need during back-to-school and during the holiday season, because higher prices will be the norm in 2023.

Why are electronics important?

It has made people’s lives easier, smoother, and more lively, and it has reduced the distances between nations, such as the use of cell phones and personal computers.

It facilitated communication between individuals, communities, and countries, deepened dialogue, and addressed languages, many of which relied on translation skills.
